Kitchen before and After

The kitchen "remodel" was probably the easiest of all of the 3 rooms we changed. When we bought the house, the kitchen had goose wallpaper and border. All of the cabinets also had knobs with geese on them. It was nice, but not for us. So Courtney and her friend Lauryn helped pull off the border and wallpaper. After that we had to sand and primer a few areas. Matt and I choose a light yellow for the kitchen to compliment the "mexican cantina" theme for the kitchen. Courtney, Lauryn, Gramma, Mom and I painted the kitchen and repainted the door to match. We took off all of the goose knobs and added a rustic knob. Before there was a very ugly wicker type hanging lamp above the sink. Matt and Dad took that down and now there is a nice rustic light fixture there. We added a few cool accesories and it was done.

Buying a House is a lot of work!!

Well, here we are. One week after closing on the house and life is pretty good. Thursday after closing, we just came over to look around and then went back to the apartment. The closing was so stressful and there was an unexpected charge that didn't help things. Friday, we came over and spent 10 hours removing wall paper. Courtney and Lauryn did the kitchen in about an hour, but the living room and spare room took FOREVER!! Matt decided to mow the lawn and got a little more than he bargained for. It took him 3 hours to mow the front yard, and about an hour and a half to do the backyard. I spent Saturday and Sunday painting. But luckily, it was all done by Sunday night. Which was so great, because on Monday I went to pick up our new little puppy. Her name is Sophia Loren (yes...just like the actress), but we call her Sophie for short. She went to the vet and check out pretty well. She has round worms, but we are treating it and she should be okay in about 2 weeks.
Over the next few days, we just moved things from the apartment. I must say that with every new piece of furniture, this house is becoming my home. It felt really weird at first, but now it really does feel like home. Sophie loves the huge backyard and Melissa and Jake's dog is loving to come over and play in the yard with Soph. We have had a few minor hang ups since moving in. The phone lines were a little messed up, but it was fixed in no time. Today we had a sewer line back up. So I called Roto Rooter and they supposedly fixed it. However, they still wanted me to have another guy come out tomorrow to run a camera down there. So, I just decided to call a different plumber who is more familiar with these houses. We will see. Just keep praying for all to go well.
We are just kinda still in shock that we finally got a house. We love it, and we are so loving our new puppy. It seems that she gets more attention than we do! LOL!! But she is a sweet girl. I like to call her my little love bug. Stay tuned for more tales from the Borck household. You know we like to keep it interesting.
